Dooley, who had been arrested early Tuesday morning in connection with the alleged aggravated sexual assault of two San Leon area girls, was seen Thursday by jail medical and mental health staffers who released him for housing in an administrative segregation unit. He was moved to his single-man cell Thursday afternoon.
Investigators indicated a detailed note was found in the cell, apparently written by Dooley. An autopsy will be performed by the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office to determine cause of death.
An internal investigation is underway at the Galveston County Jail. The Galveston County DA's office and attorney general will also be involved.
