Galveston police spokesman Lt. D.J. Alvarez said investigators arrested David Ray Williams, of Galveston, while he was in the county jail on an unrelated charge. Williams was charged with murder in the death of 56-year-old Patricia Sultan, The Galveston County Daily News reported.
Children playing in an abandoned house found Sultan's body Feb. 20. The house is about six blocks away from the location where the body of 51-year-old Evelyn Harvey was found on Feb. 5.
Alvarez said DNA evidence linked Williams to Sultan's death. They're awaiting more tests to determine whether the deaths are related.
Williams' bond on the murder charge was set at $250,000.
