It all happened just before 11pm in the 7600 block of West Knoll near Elbert. Police tell Eyewitness News the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute. A homeowner was arguing with some men that he believed had stolen some DVDs from his home. The fight ended when the homeowner shot three men, killing one of them.

Police believe that earlier in the week, a theft did occur and then a day or two later, the homeowner had a fight with the people he believed to be involved with the theft.

Investigators say some men showed up at the homeowner's house last night to finish the fight.

"A verbal altercation ensued. One possibly went for a weapon, or the homeowner believed he reached for a weapon," said Officer Keith Lovelace with the Houston Police Department. "Fearing for his life, he fired several shots, striking the guy that's deceased in the driveway."

It is unclear if the victim had a weapon or not. The two other victims had minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Police are still trying to sort out the details. All parties involved are being questioned.
