Games that were scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Houston, Wichita Falls, Dallas, Waco, Amarillo, San Antonio, Laredo and the Gulf Coast area have been canceled and will not be rescheduled.

The move comes a day after the University Interscholastic League canceled all public high school athletic competition in the state until May 11.

The Special Olympics events will not be made up, but those who planned to participate in this weekend's games are still eligible to compete in the 2009 Summer Games in Arlington May 21-24.
