Former President George H.W. Bush will be on the peninsula Saturday to help clean up the beach. Debris still litters many areas of the Texas Gulf coast. The Bush-Clinton Coastal Recovery Program is working with the state on the Adopt-a-Beach spring clean-up. More than 1,000 volunteers are expected.
And in Galveston, Moody Gardens says it's ready for the busy summer tourism season. The rainforest pyramid will reopen tomorrow.
It's been closed since September after suffering major flooding from Hurricane Ike. It was the most seriously damaged during the storm. The pyramid is reopening as part of the Earth Day and Oleander Festival at Moody Gardens this weekend.
