It turns out the girl was never really missing, and it was all a misunderstanding. The girl had missed the school bus, and then never arrived at school. After finding out she wasn't at school, the grandmother reported the girl missing around 8am.
The girl's mother, though, had apparently taken to her to a house belonging to a friend, without the grandmother's knowledge. Police found the girl there around 11am, with her mother. Although the mother was not there the entire time, there is no reason to believe there was any foul play.
One man was taken into custody by police on an unrelated charged that was discovered as a result of the investigation.
There are no arrests or charges in relation to this case.
