The Coast Guard assisted a boater on board a 17-foot fishing vessel taking on water in Cedar Bayou in the vicinity of the Fred Hartman Bridge.

Watchstanders at Sector Houston-Galveston received a call from the Galveston County Sheriff's Office reporting a 17-foot white angler fishing boat taking on water. The operator of the boat reported that waves had overtaken the boat and the bilge pump on board had malfunctioned.

A 25-foot response boat from Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston boathouse and a Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65C rescue helicopter crew were both launched to assist the boater.

The 25-foot response boat arrived on scene and safely towed the 17-foot white angler to a landing at Crowley's. No injuries were reported.
