Two dogs set on fire in Dallas

Dallas police are trying to determine who set a pair of dogs on fire and burned them so badly that the animals had to be euthanized. Authorities say the male and female pit bull terriers, seen ablaze and running from an intersection, were critically injured.

A resident of the neighborhood, Shun Hickman, told KTVT-TV that he looked out a window and saw "a big ball of fire."

Animal advocate Jonnie England said the female dog practically had her face burned off.

The dogs were euthanized several hours after both were seen on fire and running down a street Saturday night, leading to 911 calls to police.
