Reports: U.S., Canadian tourists dead in crash

Mexican news media is reporting that a bus carrying Canadian and U.S. tourists has crashed in northern Mexico, killing 11. El Universal and El Norte newspapers are reporting that the crash involved a bus traveling from McAllen, Texas, to the northern Mexican state of Zacatecas.

El Universal says that the crash happened Monday afternoon between the bus and a tractor-trailer. The newspaper says the dead include six men and five women. The information could not be confirmed immediately.

The newspaper says 16 were injured and that some of the survivors are being treated in the intensive care unit of an area hospital for head wounds and broken bones, among other injuries.
