Pearland Library reopens following Ike damage

For the first time since Hurricane Ike, the Pearland Library is re-opening.[SIGN UP: Get headlines and breaking news sent to you]

It has taken this long to repair the damage caused by Ike. Two-thousand of the Pearland Library's 116, 000 books were destroyed by the storm. It took about two months and $225,000 to repair the water damage. It will take another $5,000 to $6,000 to replace the fiction books destroyed by Ike.

The library does have new hours. It opens at 10am today and it will be open every day of the week except Sundays.
