Police in Nacogdoches are investigating the overnight shooting of a 38-year-old woman killed in her kitchen as she cooked dinner. A Nacogdoches police statement says Melissa Kesinger Barnhill was preparing dinner for her two young children just after 9 p.m. Wednesday when she was shot through a kitchen window. The statement says she died of a single gunshot wound to the neck.

The statement says police interviewed what they call a "person of interest" last night, but no charges have been filed.
