Police say the woman attempted to cross the freeway near Rayford from the east to west side just south of Woodlands Parkway. As she got to the middle of the southbound lanes, a vehicle struck her. Authorities say she was then run over by several more cars.
Authorities say only the drivers in the last two vehicles stopped.
State troopers shut down the freeway for more than two hours to investigate.
