A police officer conducting a routine audit found drug evidence missing from the property room this week. That has led to an internal investigation.

Authorities say some of the missing evidence is connected to pending cases. Staff members are being interviewed and given lie detector tests.

Last year, theft of evidence from the property room led to the dismissal of 16 criminal cases.
