Investigators say the man was coming back from a store just before 11pm when he started walking across east FM 1960. He made it across the first three lanes when he stopped and looked down for something. A woman driving a pickup was unable to stop and hit the man.
Police say pedestrians should avoid crossing the street in the dark.
"I wouldn't recommend it. This is three lanes of traffic going each way, so there are a total seven lanes of traffic including the middle lane," said Officer Jack Burt with the Humble Police Department. "So it's not recommended to cross it on foot."
No charges are expected against the truck driver.
