The first happened at a home on West Bertrand and Sunnyside in north Houston. Crews say the fire was coming from the attached garage when they arrived. They quickly attacked the fire and cut it off before it could spread to the attic.
No one was hurt. Arson is investigating.
The second fire destroyed a home on on Willowbend and Hillcroft in southwest Houston. Crews there say they tried to quickly attack the fire, but the flames were too intense and then had to go into defensive mode. It took them 30 minutes to put out the fire and the home was a total loss, but no one was hurt.
Arson is also looking into this case.
