Pink Christmas featured a live nativity scene with a male Mary in drag. This "Mary" wears a blonde wig, high-heeled black boots and carries a plastic doll.
A group called Pro Gay organized the event, which also featured booths selling gay-themed holiday cards.
The independent religious group Christians for Truth urged the Amsterdam city council to cancel Pink Christmas. Opponents said the gay holiday celebration made a mockery of Christmas.
