Light pole helps end police pursuit

The chase began around midnight when police tried to pull over a pickup at Bellaire and Bissonnet. The driver sped off. Minutes later, the driver hit a light pole while trying to turn southbound on the Southwest Freeway feeder.

The accident knocked out power at the intersection of Kirby and 59. The driver and a passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
