State Fair Candy Champ, Stan Rogers, or Stan the Candy Man as we like to call him, shows us a delicious treat to make cheap and it all starts with simple ingredients.

  • ¼ cup of karo syrup
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 3 sticks of margarine
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 2 cups of pecans
  • 2/3 cups of chocolate chips
  • pecan sprinkles

  • melt down the karo, one stick of butter and the 3-sticks of margarine.
  • when it's all melted down, then add the sugar
  • in about ten to fifteen minutes, the mixture will thicken (about 290 degrees)
  • then, you stir in the pecans and re-heat the mixture back to 290 before you pour the mixture in the pan.
  • pour it on a pan and spread it out.
  • while its hot, add the chocolate chips on top -- spread it out as it melts
  • top it off with the pecan sprinkles and put it in the fridge
  • once it hardens, it's done.
