Since Monday, trucks have been scraping and stockpiling sand at Stewart Beach as well as Apfel Park. The sand is being moved and placed along the seawall between 61st Street and 10th Street. Hurricane Ike washed away a majority of the beach.

When the project is complete, there will be more than 200 feet of beach out to the water.
