Woman killed in freak hit and run

Police say the driver of the big truck was talking to a woman on Sampson near Bremond south of downtown last night. She was hanging onto the driver's side door, looking into the cab of the truck when it rolled forward. The woman lost her balance and was run over. The driver took off but was later caught.

"A witness from this location followed the truck, which was was stopped by patrol unit off of I-10 in Baytown," said Sgt. Lefler with the Houston Police Department.

The woman died at a hospital. The incident remains under investigation.
