Volunteers help build home for Ike victims

Volunteers from Waste Management and a Houston city council member are helping build a home for a family of Hurricane Ike survivors. [SIGN UP: Get headlines and breaking news sent to you]

It was a Habitat for Humanity project. Volunteers spent their Saturday hammering away, building the home on Wedgefield in the Settegast community of northeast Houston. They nailed in the siding and laid shingles on the roof.

City Councilman Jarvis Johnson also helped out.
