New rules go into effect today that prohibit sex offenders from living within 2,500 feet of businesses geared towards children. Sugar Land already prohibits sex offenders from living near schools, playgrounds and swimming pools and bans them from public parks. Violators face a $500 fine and could even be kicked out of town.
You can read more about the rules in the Sugar Land Sun, which is one of our Houston Community Newspaper partners.
