Officials: Emanuel offered chief of staff job

Democratic officials say Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel has been offered the job of chief of staff in the administration of President-elect Barack Obama. It is not known whether Emanuel has accepted.

The disclosure came one day after Obama was elected president in an electoral college landslide. He takes office Jan. 20 as the first black president, and the 44th overall.

Obama is a former aide in Bill Clinton's White House. He was re-elected to Congress on Tuesday.
