METRO fare increases now in effect

HOUSTON METRO's fare increase started yesterday. Bus and rail passengers will pay a $1.25 for a one-way trip. Park and Ride commuters will need a dollar more, depending on how far they travel.

METRO officials blame rising fuel and operating costs for the first increase in 14 years.
