Elderly woman killed in violent attack

HOUSTON Investigators say Fannie Mae Fisher's son discovered her in the house. He periodically stayed with the 85-year-old at her home on Maury at Collingsworth. But when he didn't hear from her yesterday, he became concerned, went to the house and found her in the back of the house on her bed.

Homicide investigators say the motive right now appears to be robbery. There were signs of forced entry in the back of the house. The home was ransacked and the victim's purse was turned inside out.

Her son told police that it appears that things are missing from the home, but he's not sure what just yet. Authorities say she suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The initial motive right now appears to be robbery and there are injuries to her head which will initially explain blunt force trauma," said J.T. Barringer with the Houston Police Department homicide division. "The medical examiner will be the person, of course, to determine the cause of death. But she has injuries to her head that are pretty visible."

Officers searched the area for several hours for a possible suspect or suspects but came up with nothing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
