Foo Fighters tell McCain to stop using song

NEW YORK The band has asked McCain to stop using the song in his campaign for president. A statement says the saddest part is that the song "was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential." It also says the song is being "tarnished" because it's being "used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric."

McCain's campaign did not immediately return calls for comment.

John Mellencamp, Heart and Jackson Browne have objected to the McCain campaign using their songs.

Sam Moore of Sam and Dave has objected to Democrat Barack Obama's campaign using "Soul Man."
