Ike knocked a large tree on the home on Peachtree near Earline in northeast Houston. The officers teamed up with volunteers from Willis Demolition, Lowe's, and Trinity Garden Church of Christ to move the tree and make the needed home repairs.

"It's not a part of our job. But because of the storm, she was affected, and she didn't have the resources to get it done. So we're just here to help out," said Officer Warren Jones with the Houston Police Department.

Officers say they got the request for help on Thursday. They wanted to finish the work this weekend since the forecast calls for rain on Tuesday.
