Trial to begin in student BBQ murder

HOUSTON Investigators say Timothy Wayne Shepherd had confessed to killing Texas A&M freshman Tynesha Stewart at his north Harris County apartment in March 2007.

Her remains were found on barbecue pits on Shepherd's patio. Defense attorneys say his confession should be thrown out because he was questioned after asking for a lawyer.

A judge ruled Shepherd waived his request. Opening arguments are scheduled for Wednesday.
