Teachers at Bellaire spent the weekend getting their rooms back in order. Bellaire was one of a few remaining schools that did not get power back until Friday.

According to the district website, all HISD schools will reopen except for a handful of charter school programs and most of those are the Pre-K "Young Learners." You'll want to check the HISD web site for a complete list and check with the school district to see if your child's Pre-K site is open.

Several other districts re-opening today are:

  • Clear Creek ISD, which is already warning parents and students to be prepared for school bus delays because of malfunctioning stoplights
  • Galena Park ISD
  • Goose Creek ISD
  • La Porte ISD
  • North Forest ISD is open except for a handful of schools that don't have power
  • Pasadena ISD
  • HISD officials say make sure your child uses caution if he or she walk to school. Many of the sidewalks still have debris on them and they may have to step out onto the street to get by.

HISD is also enrolling students from hard hit storm areas. You can do so by going to any HISD school or to district headquarters.
