Boy killed during hurricane preps

On Friday morning, a 10 year-old boy was killed when a tree limb from a falling tree struck him in the head. The boy's father was attempting to fall a dead tree in the family's yard before Hurricane Ike arrived with its strong winds.

When the tree fell the young boy did not move out of the way. An older brother attempted to pull the boy out of the way but a limb from the tree struck the boy in the head.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Tomball Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Harris County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Section is conducting an investigation. This appears to be a terrible accident and criminal charges are not expected.
