Two Houstonians honored at White House

WASHINGTON Harris County Judge Ed Emmett and Harris County's Emergency Management Coordinator Mark Sloan will receive awards. The Presidential Volunteer Service awards are being given to the men for supporting and expanding the Harris County Citizen Corps. The corps is a community service organization that provides citizens with disaster training.

The group coordinated the efforts of 60,000 volunteers during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
