Storms peel back roof at Ellington Field

HOUSTON The storms popped up around 3pm, moving through parts of the Houston area. A portion of the roof of a metal hangar building peeled off during the severe weather. That roofing material flew across a grassy area, landing on at least two vehicles in the parking lot.

"We really couldn't see because there was such a wall of water we couldn't even see out the window," said operations manager Gary Furst. "There was just a real, real high wind that lasted for maybe 10 minutes. Then we came outside and saw what it did. It blew part of our roof off."

No injuries were reported. Some water and debris fell inside the hangar, but there was no damage to the planes.
