Shelter in place lifted following chemical leak

LA PORTE, TX It happened at the PPG plant in La Porte. A shelter in place was issued right around the plant on Fairmont Parkway but it has since been lifted. There are few homes in the area. Crews were on the scene for hours to contain the leak.

A mile and a half stretch of Fairmont Parkway is still closed right now between Highway 146 and Bay Area Boulevard.

Check your traffic before heading out.
