Man killed by hit and run driver

HOUSTON It happened around 2am on Fannin and McGowen in downtown Houston. Police say they found a man dead when arrived on the scene.

A witness told Eyewitness News she was in her car on her way home from an area nightclub when she saw the driver of a Dodge Charger fly pass her going anywhere from 70 to 80 miles per hour through a downtown street. But she says what she saw next she'll never forget.

"I just see this person flying and I was like, a person got ran over," said witness Katherine Guevara. "The car didn't even stop, so I went ahead and stopped and called 911 and I walked over there and the person was just laying there."

Police say the victim was crossing the street when he was hit. He is his mid 20s and was dressed like he was possibly at an area nightclub. His identity hasn't been released.

Authorities say they are looking for a Black Dodge Charger with damage to the front end and/or windshield. If you have seen that vehicle, you are asked to call authorities.
