A 3-year-old child is dead after police said he was left in a hot car all day in Webster. Webster police say the child's grandmother, 44-year-old Donna Chesser, called 911 Wednesday when she left work and realized her grandson was still in the car. Police say she told them she apparently forgot to drop the boy off at day care on her way to work.

Police believe the child was in the car for 10 hours. No charges were filed and police said the case would be presented to a grand jury.

Webster is about 23 miles southeast of Houston.

The National Weather Service said the high at Houston Hobby Airport was 89 degrees with a heat index of 96 degrees.
