Ron Paul's wife recovering after third surgery

HOUSTON Spokesman Jesse Benton said on Ron Paul's Web site that her surgery was successful. According to Benton, Carol Paul's "not out of the woods yet, but signs look very positive."

He would not give further details about Tuesday's procedure.

The Houston Chronicle reported in Wednesday's editions that she had surgery in Iowa last year after being hospitalized for shortness of breath and low blood pressure while campaigning with her husband. Doctors installed a heart pacemaker at the time.

A Texas congressman from Lake Jackson, Ron Paul ran for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination.
