Man attacks pregnant woman with knife

HOUSTON It happened around noon on Ticonderoga near Red Bird. Investigators are still trying to piece together what exactly happened.

The sheriff's office identifies the victim as 22-year-old Kendall Claymon. She was home alone in the back yard when a man suddenly attacked her with a knife.

Despite her multiple wounds, she somehow managed to get away from her attacker. She got inside her house, locked the doors and called 911. Investigators can't say what motivated this attack.

"We don't know why this happened. We don't know what the motive was, but like I said, once the victim recovers a little bit, we'll be able to talk to her and get more information as to what information she can give us to better investigate this case," said Sgt. Bryan Pair with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Claymon was about 7 months pregnant. Doctors had to induce labor as a result of her injuries. The newborn apparently had a cut on one of the legs. Both mother and child are expected to survive their injuries and are being treated at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

The description of the suspect at this point is very vague. He is described as an Hispanic male in his late teens to early 20s, wearing an orange and white shirt. Eyewitness told authorities they saw the suspect running from the scene.

Anyone with information leading to the identity of the suspect is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
