Heat being blamed for water main break

HOUSTON City crews worked yesterday evening to put the lid on the impromptu geyser that shot 20 feet into the air near the intersection of Kirby and Alabama. Public works tells us the hot weather caused the ground to shift, which led to a busted pipe.

The city gets an average of 100 to 250 heat related breaks a day. They usually take a couple of hours to fix.
