AF officer found shot dead in home

WASHINGTON Brig. Gen. Thomas L. Tinsley, commander of the 3rd Wing, died of a gunshot wound Sunday night, the Air Force said.

Lt. Col. Michael Paoli, an Air Force spokesman, said the death is under investigation, and there doesn't appear to be any indication of foul play at this time.

Tinsley was an F-15 instructor pilot and test pilot, as well as an exchange officer and instructor with the Royal Australian Air Force. In addition, he commanded the 12th Fighter Squadron at Elmendorf, near Anchorage. He had been the wing commander since last year.
