HOUSTON Crews began removing the trees last night to make way for plans to widen Kirby by more than 70 feet. River Oaks Association board member Bob Martin is disappointed by last night's removal of the trees and wonders why they couldn't be relocated instead.
"I just find it very hard to believe," said Martin. "All over this city, I see trees and to see them being chopped down like that, it's really sad," he said.
The group, Trees for Houston, had been pushing for the city and the upper Kirby Cistrict to revise its plans so that the trees would be saved.
