Officer loses control of unit, crashes

HOUSTON Around 11pm Saturday, the officer was heading eastbound on the South Loop when traffic came to a sudden stop. Investigators say he swerved to avoid a car and lost control. He spun into a grassy area and then slid into main lanes of traffic. That led to a collision with an 18-wheeler. The police car was totaled while there was only minor damage to the 18-wheeler.

No one was injured.
