Locke, 24, has spent the last four seasons with the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs, totaling 229 points (85 goals, 144 assists) in 313 games. He made his NHL debut with the Canadiens against the Chicago Blackhawks on Jan. 8.
In another Wild transaction later on Friday, the team signed forward Krys Kolanos to a one-year contract.
Kolanos, 26, recorded 63 points (30 goals, 33 assists) including 11 power play goals and three game-winning goals in 63 games with the Quad City Flames in 2007-08. He ranked tied for first in goals and second in scoring for Quad City and his 272 shots on goal ranked tied for second in the AHL. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, has notched 35 points (17 goals, 18 assists) in 115 career NHL matches with Phoenix and Edmonton.
