Teen to compete in text messaging contest

HOUSTON Katelyn Dittman, 15, is traveling to New York City today for "The National Texting Championship" in Times Square. Katelyn won the Houston regional and will compete against 13 other regional winners for national bragging rights.

Last year's winner won by typing "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocios" in 42 seconds. Katelyn's got that 151-letter phrase down pat, but she still has her work cut out for her.

Katelyn sends about 3,000 text messages a month, which forced her parents to get an unlimited text messaging plan. They're now hoping it pays off in big dividends -- as in $50,000 for college tuition.
