ZZ Top takes over Hard Rock Cafe

HOUSTON The famed Texas trio - Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard - wanted to premiere their first ever live concert DVD, "Live From Texas." The boys in the band said the first place they thought of to hold the party was the Hard Rock Cafe - and folks there were happy to oblige.

From ZZ Top's fuzzy guitars played by Gibbons and Hill in the video for "Legs," to Stevie Ray Vaughan's original oil painting, to an acoustic guitar used by Hank Williams, Sr., Hard Rock Cafe Houston has undergone a complete memorabilia redecoration, with dozens of new items commemorating the history of rock now on display.

On Monday, members of ZZ Top also donated memorabilia, including the custom-made guitar and bass guitar featured in the Live From Texas DVD, which will become a permanent addition to Hard Rock's world-famous collection. The event benefitted Child Advocates, Inc., which is dedicated to breaking the vicious cycle of child abuse.

Singer/guitarist/frontman Billy F Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard make up one of the most instantly recognizable bands in rock history. From their 1969 Houston inception to this 2008 DVD release, they are the only major band in history to never have had a personnel change in almost a 40-year history. These Rock and Roll Hall of Famers are known for their self-designed custom guitars and irony-filled stage act. The band is known for several major hit singles, including "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Legs," "Sharp Dressed Man," "LaGrange" and, of course, "Tush."

Live From Texas, released by Eagle Rock Entertainment, is now available in stores on DVD and Blu Ray.
