Boy, 3, drowns in apartment complex pool

HOUSTON Police say the toddler's family was in the pool and had the boy in a floatation device. The person watching the boy became distracted and turned away. The child slipped through a hole in the flotation device and went into the water.

The family later noticed the boy was missing. They found him at the bottom of the pool and called 911. Paramedics were not able to revive the boy.

Homicide detectives are calling the drowning accidental.

Just last Wednesday another 3-year-old boy drowned in an apartment pool in northwest Harris County.

Combined with last night's drowning, that makes a total of at least 12 drowning incidents in Harris County this year, including several children.
