Brothers honored for saving dad's life

MISSOURI CITY, TX Denton Markwalter, 12, and his younger brothers Rider, 10, and Barrett, 8, remained calm and took decisive action when the family's car fell off a jack and onto their father's leg. The boys' mother was asleep at home at the time of the accident.

Mayor Allen Owen and Council member Barbara Gibson presented the boys with certificates of recognition for alerting a neighbor, helping get another jack under the car, and making sure their grandmother called 911.

The accident occurred on April 29 at the home of Vince and Wendy Markwalter at Plantation Park in Missouri City. The boys received the certificates during the City Council meeting on June 16.
