It's unknown if the ambulance was transporting a patient at the time of the wreck. Several people were taken to area hospitals following the accident. Traffic is backed up in the area.
Ambulance involved in head-on wreck
HOUSTON The rush hour accident took place near Hillcroft, in the SW Freeway HOV lane. An ambulance and a white SUV apparently collided head-on. It's believed the SUV may have blown a tire, then somehow flew over the HOV barrier before hitting the private ambulance.
