Authorities say Garcia, a native of Cuba, killed Claudia Zamora during an argument Sept. 29. He then washed her, put her body in his car and wrecked the vehicle near U.S. 281 to cover up the crime, prosecutors said.
Officers found Zamora soaked, without any apparent injuries. An autopsy later revealed she died from severe neck trauma.
In a confession, Garcia told investigators the couple had been fighting over an affair Zamora accused him of having with another woman. During the argument, Zamora told him she had aborted their baby, according to Garcia's confession.
But that was not true. Zamora was three months pregnant at the time of her death, officials said.
Garcia's attorney, Alfredo Morales, declined to comment after the verdict.
