Man killed, woman wounded in shooting

HOUSTON Shots were fired at a home on Whispering Palm near Veterans Memorial in northwest Harris County around 3am today. The woman's adult son heard his parents arguing and then heard the gunfire.

Authorities say Marie Torres, 41, was shot multiple times. Her husband, Oscar Orellana, 46, was found dead in the backyard.

"The husband and wife have had marital problems over a period of time," explained Bryan Pair with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. "This morning, it appears the husband had been drinking and that's when he and his wife got into an argument."

Investigators say the shooting happened in the backyard. Torres remains in the hospital.
