Girl, 11, sexually assaulted while sleeping

STAFFORD, TX Fort Bend County Sheriff's detectives say Rigoberto Zapatero, 35, broke into a trailer next door to his in the 2800 block of Richton in Stafford on May 19. Three children and their mother were asleep in the living room. Detectives say Zapatero approached the sleeping 11-year-old girl, removed her clothing and inappropriately touched her when she was awakened by his presence.

Zapatero reportedly then fled the home. Detectives have a warrant for his arrest. He has been charged with burglary with intent to commit sexual assault.

Zapatero is described as an Hispanic male, 35 years old, approximately 5'9" tall, weighing around 220 pounds, with short dark hair and a mustache, and dark eyes. Zapatero may be driving a tan and brown 1994 Ford Explorer. Although he lives next door, authorities say Zapatero hasn't been back since the attack.

Meanwhile, the girl's mother is terrified that he could return. Detectives are requesting anyone with information on the whereabouts of Rigoberto Zapatero to contact the Fort Bend County Sheriff's office at 281-341-4665 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS (8477).
